The marvel celestials list is a ranking of the 15 strongest celestials in the Marvel universe.
In the Marvel Universe, the Celestials are a race of superpowered, extremely gigantic humanoid cosmic beings. They were created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in Eternals #2 in 1976, and have since become an important element of the Marvel universe. They are among the Marvel universe’s most strong and potent creatures. They will feature in the forthcoming Eternals film, which is why we chose to talk about them in today’s post.
This article will compile a list of the 15 most powerful (and, at the same time, greatest) Celestials as depicted in comic books. They’ll be listed from 15th to 1st, providing you a good insight of Jack Kirby’s backstory. You’ll learn a little bit about these personalities and why we’ve arranged them in the way we have. Enjoy!
15 of the most powerful celestials
Godstalker is number fifteen.
Blackwulf #6 is his first appearance (November 1994)
The Celestials have given the Godstalker the authority to police their rules across the cosmos. Lord Tantalus, the Deviant conqueror, was exiled to planet Earth by the Celestials thousands of years ago. The Godstalker was sent to impose Celestial Rule when Tantalus rebuilt his ship’s stardrive and returned to Armechadon.
The Godstalker, on the other hand, was working with obsolete knowledge and thought Tantalus couldn’t have children. Godstalker detected Tantalus’ unique genetic energy signature, the Black Legacy, in Tantalus’ son, Lucian, when he came on Earth. The Godstalker refused to accept Lucian’s claim to be a Tantalus descendent, thinking Lucian to be Tantalus disguised.
The Desecration Annex was then assigned to him.
The Eternal Druig was atomized while attempting to steal a Celestial weapon to use against his creators. This damage was not deadly (at least not for a long time), but the Godstalker gathered and imprisoned its essence in the Desecration Annex as a punishment for his transgression.
Valknar the Exhumer is 14 years old.
First appearance: Avengers (vol. 8) #1 (May 2018)
Valknar the Exhumer was a member of the Final Host of the Dark Celestials, a wicked Horde-infected race of deformed and angry Celestials. Loki called the rest of his people and aided their arrival on Earth to clean up the planet after he released Zgreb the Sorrower. The Ultimate Host infected and murdered all existing Celestials before arriving on Earth, and their corpses were placed on the ground to proclaim their presence.
Horde insects, which had been hibernating deep under the Earth’s surface, emerged with the advent of the Dark Celestials. Some of the planet’s heroes attempted but failed to resist the invaders. Captain America attempted to transfer the Dark Celestials to the Sun using Alpha Flight’s Omega-level Warp Grenades, but he was unsuccessful.
They returned to Earth and went to the North Pole, where Loki revealed the body of the Ancestor, a Horde-infected celestial who fell to Earth four billion years ago. Meanwhile, the Dark Celestials started the process of bringing the Earth to its end by boiling the seas and setting fire to the atmosphere. The Dark Celestials have been tracked down by the Ghost Rider.
He rescued Captain America and captured Loki, drawing the Dark Celestials’ attention. Soon later, all of the heroes met in Sweden. Black Panther and Captain Marvel were able to battle the bugs because they were charged with the same energy as the Horde. She-Hulk and Thor used Ymir’s blood, which they had retrieved from Asgard, to harness its power. Ghost Rider utilized his abilities to grab the armor of a Celestial who had died. Iron Man eventually chose the Godkiller Armor MK II.
Despite their combined power, the Avengers were unable to vanquish the Dark Celestials, and the Horde resurrected the Celestials they had previously infected and killed in the middle of the fight. After learning of the link between the Progenitor’s death, the Horde, and mankind’s genetic composition, Iron Man assembled the Avengers to combine their energies to create a Uni-Mind, having acquired the entity’s secrets from Ikaris while researching the advent of the Dark Celestials.
The Avengers used the Ghost Rider as a conduit for the Uni-Mind, putting the horde to slumber while resurrecting the zombified Celestials. The Dark Celestials were destroyed by the Avengers and Celestials working together. The Celestials then detained the Dark Celestials and transported them away from Earth.
Obliteron (#13)
First appearance: Avengers (vol. 8) #1 (May 2018)
Obliteron was a member of the Final Host of the Dark Celestials, a wicked Horde-infected race of deformed and angry Celestials. Gamiel the Manipulator (#12)
Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur #1 is his first appearance (December 2005)
A celestial adolescent who, like Devron, was tasked with protecting the Earth. He was furious that Devron’s Little Folk had rejected his Killer Folk creatures, so he summoned the Hulk from the future and sent him to the Little Folk and their champion, Devil Dinosaur. He and Devron eventually got into trouble and were sent to Hala, where they unintentionally started a four-million-year war between the Kree and Skrull species.
Callus the Void (#11)
First appearance: Avengers (vol. 8) #1 (May 2018)
The Final Host of the Dark Celestials, a violent race of Celestials transformed by the Horde, including Callus the Void. Loki called the rest of his people and enabled their arrival on Earth to clean up the earth after he dug out Zgreb the Sorrower. The Ultimate Host infected and murdered all existing Celestials before arriving on Earth, and their corpses were placed on the ground to proclaim their presence.
Horde insects, which had been hibernating deep under the Earth’s surface, emerged with the advent of the Dark Celestials. Some local heroes attempted, but failed, to resist the invaders. Callus subdued and killed the Celestial Eson when he managed to rise up and resist the Dark Celestials.
Captain America attempted to transfer the Dark Celestials to the Sun using Alpha Flight’s Omega-level Warp Grenades, but he was unsuccessful. They returned to Earth and went to the North Pole, where Loki revealed the body of the Progenitor, a Horde-infected Celestial who fell to Earth four billion years ago.

The Dark Celestials were destroyed by the Avengers and Celestials working together. The Celestials then detained the Dark Celestials and transported them away from Earth.
The Progenitor is number ten.
Avengers (vol. 8) #3 was his first appearance (June 2018)
The Progenitor, according to Loki, was a Celestial Alpha who was afflicted by the Horde and came to Earth four billion years ago to suffer a sad and terrible end. The Celestial’s sick body fluids seeped into the Earth and sawped through the planet’s primordial surface, permanently altering the Earth’s evolutionary course.
Loki also stated that this procedure was the genesis of many people’s extraordinary abilities on Earth. The Progenitor’s body lay immobile in the Arctic Circle, and its last resting place was the Arctic Ocean’s bottom near the North Pole. Loki kidnapped Captain America and brought him to the Progenitor’s resting place after enabling the entrance of the last host of the Dark Celestials with the aim of cleaning up the country.
The Resurrected First Celestial Host pulled the Progenitor out of his watery tomb and gave him to the Avengers as a gift to serve as their new headquarters and a reminder of the wonders of life on Earth after the Final Host was destroyed by the reconstituted Avengers. The body was resurrected and turned as Avengers Mountain by the finest architects and technologists from Wakanda’s Alpha Flight.
Celestial Madonna (number 9)
S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 is the first episode of the series (April 2010)
At AD 114, the Celestial Madonna emerged in Luoyang’s Zhang Heng’s palace. Zhang approached her and complimented her. She informed him about the presence of the Celestial Egg on Earth, as well as the fact that she was expecting a child, something “fresh, unique, and forbidden.” She would undoubtedly die as a result of her delivery, but she need nourishment.
Zhang Heng proposed the Sun as an alternative to the Earth, which causes fast extinction, and the Moon, which would have disastrous repercussions for the Earth. When Leonardo da Vinci discovered her offspring in 1956, she bathed in the star and was annihilated.
8. The Fallen City of Zgreb
Marvel Legacy #1 is the first issue of the Marvel Legacy series (September, 2017)
Zgreb the Aspirant was a Celestial creature that arrived on Earth a million years ago in pursuit of the Progenitor, his Celestial partner. When the Fallen discovered the Progenitor, he was struck by the same Horde that had afflicted his friend, rendering him insane. He was ultimately vanquished by the Stone Age Avengers and buried deep in South Africa, enslaved by terrible spells.
A group of archaeologists found the subterranean cave where Zgreb was imprisoned in contemporary times, culminating in their death at the hands of the Celestial. Later, Loki, the Asgardian god of darkness, released Zgreb from his imprisonment and used him to summon the last host of the Dark Celestials in order to unify the contemporary Avengers against a danger of their magnitude.
Some local heroes attempted, but failed, to resist the invaders.
Black Panther and Captain Marvel were able to resist the virus because they were charged with the same energy as the Horde.
She-Hulk and Thor used Ymir’s blood, which they had retrieved from Asgard, to harness its power. Ghost Rider utilized his abilities to grab the armor of a Celestial who had died. Iron Man eventually chose the Godkiller Armor MK II. Despite their combined power, the Avengers were unable to vanquish the Dark Celestials, and the Horde resurrected the Celestials they had infected and killed in the middle of the fight.
After learning of the link between the death of the Progenitor, the Horde, and mankind’s genetic composition, Iron Man rallied the Avengers to create a Uni-Mind, having acquired the secrets of that entity from Ikaris while researching the advent of the Dark Celestials. The Avengers used the Ghost Rider as a Uni-Mind conduit to put the Horde to sleep and resurrect the zombified Celestials. The Dark Celestials were destroyed by the Avengers and Celestials working together. The Celestials then halted the Dark Celestials and transported them away from Earth.
Arishem the Judge is number seven.
Eternals #2 is the first book in the series (August 1976)
Arishem initially arrived on Earth with many other Celestials to begin the construction of the Seventh Cosmos, and in the process, he clashed with Knüll, the primordial deity of evil who controlled the Void formed by the Sixth Cosmos’ destruction. The Celestials responded by sending Knull to the Void when he murdered one of Arishem’s companions, but he later returned to spearhead a battle against them.
Arishem is the commander of the Four Celestial Hosts on Earth, as well as the Fourth Host on Pangoria and a Fifth Host on a faraway galaxy’s nameless planet. When the Second Host came Earth and created the Great Disaster that inundated the planet, Arishem was in charge of eliminating the Deviant species. He’s also the leader of the Celestial delegation who fought the Watchers in a distant galaxy.
He was one of the two Celestials with the authority and power to choose which civilizations would survive and which would perish on a planet. During the War of Judgment, he encountered X-Factor. During the War of Judgment, Cyclops was able to blast Arishem’s hand with the aid of Jean Gray. Cyclops meets him briefly with the X-Men and orders him and the other Celestials to depart.
All remaining Celestials, including Arishem, were assaulted and murdered by the final host of angry Dark Celestials that attacked Earth to cleanse the world. Arishem’s corpse was hurled to Earth by the Horde to herald the approach of the Dark Celestials, and it landed in London. The Horde revived the corpses of the Fallen Celestials during the Avengers’ last fight against the Dark Celestials.
To destroy the Horde, the Avengers pooled their powers to form a Uni-Mind, which utilizes its strength to put the Horde to sleep. The Celestials resurrected and assisted the Avengers in defeating the Dark Celestials.
Godhead is number six.
Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: Black Vortex Alpha #1 is his first appearance (February 2015)
More than twelve billion years ago, the Godhead was a Celestial god who peacefully looked over the planet Viscardi. Although all of their efforts to escape their planet with spaceships failed, the sight of an extraterrestrial creature in Viscardi inspired its people to explore the cosmos. Viscardi Gara approached the silent Celestial after a tenth failed effort, attempting to convey to him how much their species’ desire was felt, and how they just wanted to get closer to him and learn more about the universe.
Gara’s statement was verified by the god, who lifted his hand to form the Black Vortex in front of her. A year after this incident, the Viscardi had all succumbed to the Black Vortex’s influence and battled until Gara was the only one left. Gara approached the Godhead again after killing the last Viscardi and questioned whether destruction of their species was what he was searching for. The god just vanished from the earth without responding to the inquiry.
5. Eson the Inquisitor
Eternals #9 is the first issue of the series (March 1977)
Eson was a seeker and seeker among the Celestials, a race of celestial creatures. Eson was one of the Celestial Hosts that visited the Earth for the First and Fourth times. Eson spent some of his time on Earth watching Miami, Florida, and Lemuria, the fabled undersea island.
The Deviants assaulted Eson and the Celestials, and Eson absorbed all of Lemuria’s energy. In response for the Lemurian onslaught, he destroyed Lemuria while exploring it with his hand. The Lemurians either ran away or drowned.
En Sabah Nur’s enormous sphinx-shaped ship was constructed out of magical elements utilizing ancient hieroglyphics, and Eson started to talk to him like a voice in his mind, in part because the ship was also constructing itself. Eson proposed that Nur utilize the ship’s technology to acquire tremendous power and influence the destiny of the planet via telepathy and Nur Apocalypse’s call. Alternatively, forget everything.
Nur guessed, and Eson stated that the Celestials will come to pay for these gifts at some point in the future, possibly decades or millennia. Eson fought with the other nine members of the Fourth Host in Peru in the battle against the Destroyer, the Uni-Mind, and Thor. The Celestials then deemed the Earth worthy of their presence and left.
Eson was one of the Celestials who was revived as the Fifth Host by the Queen of Nevers to stop the First Firmament from seizing control of the Multiverse. When the Final Host arrived, a severely wounded Eson slumped to the ground while more Celestials descended from the sky.
Eson transported She-Hulk to Robbie Reyes’ position after Captain Marvel saved his corpse from being dumped in the middle of Manhattan, and attempted to assist the Avengers in fighting the last host, but was slain.
4. Put the Executioner out of his misery.
Thor #387 marks the first appearance of the character (October 1988)
Exitar seems to be a Celestial title, office, or “model,” since Uatu said that if one Exitar died, another would ultimately take their place. Exitar’s mission was to extinguish life on planets that had passed Celestial testing. Exitar murdered The One, the Guardian who collected all of his companion’s knowledge and was accused of bringing the world to end, during a battle with the Watchers.
Sue Storm “murdered” Exitar in revenge after she managed to damage his brain. According to Uatu, a new Exitar will take its place at some time.
Exitar has come on Earth to destroy the Apocalypse twins after a Celestial Gardener is killed by them, but Sentry and Snape keep him and the X-Men back long enough for Thor to slay him with Jarnbjorn after discovering Exitar wouldn’t even listen to him. Exitar’s cosmic energy is taken by Kang to conquer Earth after his death, and later by Sunfire and Havok to oppose Kang.
3. Tiamut, the Celestial Dreamer
Eternals #18 is the first issue of the series (December 1977)
The Dreaming Celestial, formerly known as Tiamut the Communicator, was one of the Celestials tasked with informing the Fulcrum of the Celestials’ findings in planetary investigations and sending a signal to the Horde to collect all of the planet’s life force, which was then transferred to the Fulcrum.
The Deviants were the dominating power on Earth during the Second Celestial Host, and the Dreaming Celestial was preparing to call the horde to harvest the whole planet. Arishem, on the other hand, revoked the order and exterminated numerous dissenters while causing no harm to the other species. The Dreaming Celestial considered Arishem defective and tried to seize leadership by assaulting him, since this was a breach of their policy.
The Dreaming Celestial was subsequently imprisoned under the mountains by the other Celestials who had also been part of the plot to murder the Deviants in order to win the Fulcrum’s favor. However, it is unclear why they did so, and it should be noted that this version of events was provided by the Dreaming Celestial himself and has yet to be disputed or confirmed.
The other Celestials tore his spirit from his body and placed him in a device known as “The Vial,” which contained a portion of the Dreaming Celestial’s soul, which was used to produce a key to open the flask. The Dreaming Celestial’s corpse was subsequently locked in a safe under the Diablo Mountains in California by the Celestials. For millennia, the Celestial has been sleeping.
The Dreaming Celestial’s bedroom was damaged in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Uni-Mind was created by the Eternals to address the issue. Sprite discovered that he could utilize the Celestials’ abilities to alter his everlasting existence and finally enable him to develop during Mahd Wy’ry.
Finally, the rebel priest-prince Ghaur recreated the key and drank the essence of the heavenly dream, gaining the height and might of a heavenly being in the process. Soon after, the Dreaming Celestial took advantage of the situation and used mental control over Ghaur to wake him up from his never-ending slumber. The Avengers and the Eternals thwarted this plot, and the vial was resealed.
2. The Living Planet, Ego
The Mighty Thor #133 was his first appearance (October 1966)
To this day, the precise roots of Ego remain a mystery. The Living Planet is unquestionably one of the weirdest animals ever discovered in the cosmos. His birth is described in two conflicting accounts, with no way of knowing which is correct at this time.
A planet originated, according to the first theory, when the cosmos started to arrange itself at its birth, and planets formed from gas, dust, and atoms inside their individual stars’ accretion disks. It evolved in a unique way, gradually developing over millions of years to create its own awareness and intellect. Ego, the Living Planet was the name given to this planet later on.
The whole sector of space in which she was born has been dubbed a “biover” (or “bio-universe”), since it is teeming with a diverse array of ambient life forms. Ego, on the other hand, seems to be the only known conscious creature to have lived in this biover, despite indications that additional sentient worlds may have formed there.
The Stranger, a mystery cosmic entity, is said to have had a part in the creation of Ego in the second theory. When the Stranger went to his native star to conduct experiments that would lead to the star’s transformation into a nova, destroying the twin planets in orbit around it, a scientist named Egros began looking for a way to save his race, which lived in this solar system, from this planned destruction.
Egros moved his people to reinforced bunkers he had constructed in the planet’s center to safeguard them just before it was destroyed, but his plan failed when the star erupted into a nova faster than he could have predicted. Egros tried in vain to reach the subterranean vault before the sun wave reached him, since he had no more time to shut the chambers and guarantee the survival of his people.
Egros, on the other hand, did not die, and the Stranger swiftly combined all sentient creatures on his planet (including his own) to form Ego, the Living Planet. Before delivering it to the Collector, the Stranger built a second sentient planet, “Alter-Ego,” under mysterious circumstances (Taneleer Tivan). The Stranger planned to put his two creatures against each other in the future to determine which one was the most powerful.
Ego’s genesis would have been accompanied by that of “It,” also known as the egoistic Moon. Ego is born in the Dark Galaxy in either case. It is made up of gas and cosmic dust, much like all other planets. The Earth, on the other hand, is developing and accessing awareness for unknown causes. Ego swallows passing spacecraft and tiny planets in order to live.
After that, he plots an interplanetary invasion. His actions draw the attention of the Rigellians, who see him as a potential danger. The Rigellians also find Earth and form a non-invasion agreement with the deity Thor in exchange for his assistance in defeating the planet. Thor, victorious in the battle, orders Ego to stay in the Black Galaxy and give up his ambition for conquest; the latter, embarrassed by his loss, agrees.
1. The Most Important of All
Eternals #7 is the first issue of the series (January 1977)
The One Above All is the enigmatic leader of the Celestials, a mysterious collection of beings. Two American astronauts, three Deviants, and the Eternal known as the Forgotten One have all visited the creature aboard the Heavenly Mothership (Gilgamesh).
When the Forgotten One was wounded while defusing an erroneous atomic bomb, the being rescued him and sent him to Olympia to warn all the Eternals and Gods not to meddle with divine judgment. The God of Thunder Thor and the Forgotten One were then transported onboard the mothership by the One Above All, who showed Thor a picture of Odin bowing to his fellow Celestial, Arishem. Thor was then transported to Earth by the One Above All.
The entity then repels the assault of the Eternal being Uni-Mind and watches from the mothership while he and Odin’s 610m tall Asgardian destroyer confront the united Fourth Host. The Celestials were wiped out when the abstract entities Lord Chaos and Master Order united into Logos to become the new manifestation of multiversal law.
One Above All has been safely transported to the Land of Couldn’t-Be Shouldn’t-Be by the Queen of Nevers. The Queen of Nevers utilized the One above all to accelerate the Celestials’ rebirth in the last fight against the wicked First Firmament, who controlled the strings behind Logos.
