The last season of the animated series “The Seven Deadly Sins” focuses on members of the title team banding together in preparation for another battle with the Ten Commandments. The fifth and final season is based on Nakaba Suzuki’s fan-favorite Japanese Manga series of the same name, which he wrote and drew. Susumu Nishizawa was in charge of the new collection, while Rie Nishino took over the character designs. Rintaro Ikeda was in charge of the score.
The narrative for this season is fairly similar to the general series approach; however, chapter five focuses on the Holy War’s conclusion. The Arc Angels and the Lionesses team together to put a stop to the conflict. Ban embarks on a quest to recover Melioda’s emotions in order to prevent him from becoming the next Demon King. Meliodas is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins squad and the carrier of the sin of Wrath and a Dragon emblem, as well as the sin of Wrath. Estarossa loses her mind, kidnaps Elizabeth, and flees with a list of commandments. The Sins are now torn between being loyal to their master and focusing on guarding and rescuing the humans.
When production shifted from A-1 Pictures to Studio DEEN, the animation quality plummeted, with some bizarre sequences making it to the final cut. It was so egregiously awful that admirers began creating memes out of the pictures. Season five’s graphics, however, were noticeably better than their predecessor. All of the battles seem to be better done, and the action is more fluid. However, as stills, it isn’t there yet, and missing frames can be seen in the combat sequences. The finer details are also lost when the group pictures are zoomed in.
The passion and intensity of the anime’s action sequences, as well as the character designs, are reflected in the manga’s narratives. An epic confrontation between King and one of the Ten Commandments members is a memorable moment. Newly new characters are also excellent, and Melioda’s demon form is much superior in appearance and shape than prior seasons.
Meliodas is an intriguing character who has grown in popularity as the story progressed. His emotions are a major factor in this season. His relationships with the other Sin members are an important aspect of his life. His emotions shape who he is, and audiences have seen him battle through adversity to conquer the darkness that previously held him captive. Now that his emotions are lost in purgatory as he continues to absorb numerous commandments, he and his crew face the most difficult task of all, as he is on the brink of becoming the Demon King.
Melioda’s emotions are highlighted, which makes him seem sympathetic and, to some degree, makes people want to cheer for him to become the Demon King.
Gowther’s planning strategies continue throughout the fifth season, which proves to be very useful. In reality, he is the only reason why the Holy War came to a stop in the first place, since he deceived everyone into believing Mael was Estarossa, thus reducing tensions. As a result, it is the same act that has resulted in the team’s current crisis.
Zeldris has his turn in the limelight as well. In this season, his complicated relationship with Meliodas, as well as his backstory, are pushed to the forefront. Hawk’s origin is revealed, Ludociel seeks forgiveness, and Henricks surprises us once again. ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ is everything a true fantasy enthusiast could want. Magic, kingdoms, commandments, possible heirs, and even a Demon King are all present. Despite being a Shonen anime, the gender element of this series is perfectly balanced. Merlin and Diane are both very skilled, and they bring their fighting talents to the table, allowing the squad to win some really difficult battles.
Fans who haven’t read the Manga or seen prior seasons may have a difficult time catching up, since the narrative seems hurried at times and new characters don’t receive much screen time, as is typical of these types of shows. Some of the backstories are jumbled up. The majority of the characters, though, are recurrent, and if one has been watching the anime, everything will fall into place.
When watching some of the early episodes, it’s impossible not to notice that some of them are lacking background music and effects. Some combat sequences, for example, have no music and no excessive sound effects. Both are necessary components in this genre, and taking them out under these circumstances makes for an odd experience. Despite this, the overall soundtrack is extremely diverse and complements those moments with bad animation, making them seem full and finished.
The voice acting is outstanding. Mamoru Miyano joins the party, giving his voice to Wild, while the whole cast from the previous season returns.
Although ‘The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5′ may not be the greatest Shonen series, the narrative that attracted millions of fans remains intact, as do the cherished characters. The grand finale is built on the first half of the final take, which consists of 12 episodes. There are still a few loose ends to tie up, which should happen in the second half of the season.
